Filby Playing Field Committee
The committee are considering replacing the old tea room/pavilion, outside toilets and changing room/store with a new building large enough for indoor sports and incorporating toilets, changing facilities and kitchen (subject to planning permission being obtained of course) We are looking for completion of the project around 2010.
Grant applications will be made to the lottery fund, Football Association etc.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to get the fund up and running should make cheques payable to Filby Playing Field. This new facility would eliminate the need to hire a marquee for the annual fete

Filby School
We are coming to the end of another busy term at Filby School.
Last week we took part in Red Nose Day by inviting all children (and staff) to come to school in 'Wild and Wacky' clothes and 'Big Hair\ All children took part in a fun and very colourful day and raised £74 for Comic Relief.
In the summer term the children will be studying the local environment. You may see them out and about in the village looking at different aspects of the environment.
If anyone has any old photographs or information about the school, or other areas in the local community that they would be willing to lend us we would love to hear from you.
The children break up for Easter on Thursday 24th March and return to school on Tuesday 12th April
News from Filby Church
You may have seen in the local newspapers the good news that English Heritage have given us a grant of £109,000 towards the re-thatching of the roof and other roof repairs. The total cost of all this work will be about £120,000, so this means our future fund-raising efforts will go towards the £11,000 shortfall.
The work will be carried out in stages over the next 18 months.
