Open Gardens/Flower Festival

Thank you to everyone who has agreed to open their garden. Thank you to Margery Ward who will co-ordinate the refreshments in the pavilion on the playing field.
This is a very important money raising weekend.
The proceeds will be divided between Filby in Bloom and Filby Church.

Filby Youth Committee
A new Youth Club has been launched under the chairmanship of Mr Ross Stanton. They hope to meet on a regular basis at the clubroom on the playing field on a Monday evening.
The Parish Council has given them a start-up grant of £190. A snooker table has been donated thanks to Mr E Nichols.

Filby Playing Field
The latest improvement to the children's play area is the installation of a multiplay funded by_the Borough Council. (This is in addition to £5000 spent by the Parish Council) This has greatly improved the play area and the final touches will be more seating, litter bins and signs indicating age restrictions.
A fund has been set up for the new Village Hall on the playing field. An initial deposit of £100 was raised by providing teas at a football tournament by Paddy Hudson, Barbara Seeker and Jenny Thompson. Anyone wishing to contribute to the new hall should make cheques payable to Filby Village Hall. Plans are available at the Post Office. Target date for the new hall is 2010

Bus Shelter
A grant has been obtained from Norfolk County Council towards the cost of a bus shelter opposite Poplar Drive. Tenders have gone out for the installation of the base.

Broadland Theatre Group
Broadland Theatre Group is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Mel and Pete Sessions are hoping that past members of the group will come along to make this year's performance of the Jungle Book (to be performed at Thrigby Wildlife Gardens on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th July) an extra special celebration.
Past members are invited to an 'open' dress rehearsal on Friday 28th July at 2.00 pm (please contact Mel and Pete for an invitation). There will also be an open evening on Sunday 30th July from 6 pm giving past and present members a chance to reminisce over past productions.
This year's production will be the first performed in the new building at Thrigby Wildlife Gardens and everybody at Broadlands Theatre Group would like to say a big thank you to Ken and Beryl Sims and all the staff at the Wildlife Gardens who have shown such great support and continually go the extra mile on the group's behalf.
Tickets for the public performances of the play on Friday evening and Saturday matinee and evening will be available from Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens from Monday 24th July.
