Filby in Bloom
We have won Yarmouth in Bloom Best Kept Village since 1995 and Anglia in Bloom Best Kept Village 1999-2002, 2004-2006 and Best Overall in Anglia 1999-2002 and 2004. What an impressive record. Things are changing, however, in the way, the competition is judged.
Community Involvement is becoming a big factor, with people taking on areas where they live in terms of maintenance, grass cutting etc. At a recent committee meeting it was suggested that each household is contacted to see if there is any interest. Obvious areas are Ormesby Lane, Poplar Drive, Paddock Farm Drive, Filby Close, Pound Lane and Filby Heath. Any of these areas can be
entered into the Anglia in Bloom competition as a neighbourhood scheme, as well as the whole village. Anyone interested in this idea should contact Adrian or David at the Post Office (telephone369250)
The committee could provide plants, baskets etc, but you would maintain, water, dead-head etc.
Not only would you improve the area where you live, it would help to improve the appearance of the whole village and maintain our Gold standard.
