Born: 9th December 1897 in Belton, to Mary Bessey, his baptism is recorded in Thrigby.
By 1901 Sidney was living with his mother and grand parents, George and Sarah Ann Bessey, at Thrigby Road, Filby. Sidney's mother, Mary, married George Easters on 21st July 1902 at Filby.
Sidney initially went to Runham School but completed his education at Filby school leaving on 16th January 1911.
Sidney joined the 8th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment enlisting in Norwich, service number 200566.
He reached the rank of Corporal and was killed in action in France and Flanders on 22nd October 1917 aged just 19 years.
Sidney is remembered on both the Filby School and church memorials and also the Tyne Cot memorial in Belgium.
