The Parochial Church Council are applying for a Faculty, which if granted gives them permission to remove all the Church Pews from the North and South aisles of Filby Church. This is your last chance to comment or object as replies have to be back by 27thth May. Farewell Meal

Evening with Keith Skipper and Ian Prettyman
was much enjoyed by over 100 people in the Church. Much appreciated were the offers of help and draw prizes, £911 was raised for church funds. The next concert is Saturday July 5th 7.30pm, with Great Yarmouth Brass Band with tickets at £8.50.

In Bloom
Work continues this Saturday with the last of the bedding coming in. The Pound beds were rotavated and blood, fish and bone added. Thanks to Mr Brian Prime for donating 16 Rose bushes. Work continues on restoring the wetland area on the Clay Pits and thanks to Percy Hudson for making 4 new wooden planters for the Clay Pits. Filby in Bloom
Last Saturday we finished the pruning, weeding and mulching of the Golden Jubilee bed on the Playing Field. Thanks to Jamie of Ormesby Garden Machinery for the donation of the mulch. This Saturday's job is to trim round the edges of the Playing Field and roadway. Thanks to Ian Richardson for the donation of grass seed and the work he did during the week on the Pound, also thanks to Tom Green for the mending and cleaning of the Filby Flyer during the week.
Clothes Collection
The next clothes, shoe and handbag collection is Saturday 29th March 10am. If you would like items picked up at any time call Adrian on 01493 369250. There is a lot of publicity at the moment about textile recycling. The money generated for all the items we collect goes to our New Hall Fund.

The book sale was well attended and raised £608 for Church funds. Much appreciated were all the books, cakes and donations given, the people who supported the event and the hard work of the volunteers who sorted through the books and classified them.

Filby Remembers
This year we will be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of World War 1. Filby, Thrigby, Runham and Mautby will be remembering their men who served, indeed all serving men and women of these parishes, over the past 100 years. If you have any information, memorabilia, photographs etc, we would be very interested to hear from you. Every thing will be copied and returned. Copies will be kept in the proposed new Community Centre for future generations.

Open Gardens Weekend
12th and 13th July 10am-4pm. As part of Open Gardens there will be a photographic exhibition in the Clubroom of Filby people past and present. If you are over 21, live or have lived in Filby and would like to take part, we need a photo of you when you were younger and a more recent one. Coffee Morning
Thursday 13th February 10am-12 in the Clubroom on the Playing Field. Eilish Rothney from the Broads Authority and the Norfolk Wildlife Trust is talking about conservation projects in the area. A map of the village will be available to identify present and new projects in the village to increase bio diversity. Proceeds to Filby in Bloom and the New Hall Fund. Filby in Bloom
Ground works are now complete on the English Country Garden in front of the Clubroom. If anyone has any spare plants, bulbs etc they would be much appreciated Tel 01493 369250. Work starts Saturday on redesigning the Pound with new larger beds, new seating in partnership with the Filby Association and some permanent planting.
Fuel Syndicate
Orders need to be in by Wednesday 29th January for delivery week commencing 3rd February. Leave the order at the Post Office or call Sandi on 01493 369462 or email sandi.lowe2@btinternet.com. New members always welcome.

Recycling
Christmas cards can be left in the sack just inside the Post Office door. Glass, paper, cans, clothes, shoes and handbags can be left at the recycling banks at the bottom of the Post Office car park. All proceeds to the New Hall Fund.
Filby in Bloom
The Christmas Quiz was won by Jane Evans with 98%. Thanks to everyone who supported the quiz and Derek Nicker for setting the Questions. The Quiz raised £60 for Bloom Funds. The garden in front of the Clubroom is coming on nicely. The idea is to develop a traditional English Country garden and if any one has any spare plants, bulbs etc we would be most grateful. Conservative Christmas Dinner
The annual Christmas dinner was well attended, with 87 people sitting down to a great dinner. Brandon Lewis MP said a few words, and the traditional twelve days of Christmas was sung well. Thanks to all the staff at Filby Bridge Restaurant and everyone who supported the event. £200 was raised for the Flegg Conservative Branch.

Filby in Bloom
All the Christmas decorations have been taken down and stored away for next Christmas.
The plants have been ordered and start coming home in 12 weeks.
Thanks to Caroline Nicker and Nigel Stevenson from Pentland Plants for some great new ideas on this year's selection. There will be a riot of colour this year with reds, oranges and yellows prevalent in the displays.
