A new website for Filby in Bloom is up and running at www.filbyinbloom.org.uk
Baskets and bedding are being brought in and begonias and geraniums over wintered. Winter pansies and polyanthus are nearly ready to go out once the beds have been cleared and mucked.
All results are now in, We won the Best kept village in The Borough of Great Yarmouth, with a Gold. Filby Post Office won Best Small Commercial Premises with a Gold. In Anglia in Bloom we won the Best Kept village with a Gold and finally in Britain in Bloom we got a Gold in the Champions of Champions catagory. A reasonably good year, work now starts on the 2016 season implementing judges comments from the reports.

Wednesdays 2-6pm in the New Village Hall. We had a good attendance for the first session, several new members enjoyed a pleasant afternoon. We aim to have two sessions each afternoon, so do come at anytime between 2pm and 4pm, and you will be sure to have a game as well as tea and biscuits. £2 per session. No experience necessary, just flat shoes needed and bowls can be provided.

The official opening of our new Hall is Saturday 31st October 2015, by Adrian Thompson vice chairman of Filby Playing Field along with committee members. The function is to have a Halloween theme. A party for the children is to take place from 3pm-5pm. The official ceremony of opening from 5pm-6pm with further entertainment with complimentary refreshments till 9pm. Broadlands Theatre Group
On Saturday 16th January 2016, Broadlands Theatre group are performing a play entitled Afternoon at the Seaside by Agatha Christie. Please come along to the New Hall at 2pm or 7pm. Tickets are £6 from Filby Post Office from November. Proceeds to BTG and Filby Playing Field.
Christmas Bazaar
Saturday 21st November 10am-2pm in the New Village Hall. Prizes needed for the tombola and main draw. Also if you have time to bake, we would like cakes, savouries and any home grown produce and preserves. These can be left at the Post Office or ata the Hall on the day. Now the New Hall is completed it is proposed to set up a village cinema club, showing monthly feature films. We have trained a volunteer to run the Club. If you would like to help choosing the films, projecting, setting out the Hall, etc please contact Amanda on 01493 369728.
New Hall
Keys were handed over to our chairman, Mr David Thompson MBE, by the site manager Mark Alexander on Friday 19th June.
One of our initial fundraising ideas was to buy a brick for £1 which was extremely well supported. A lot has changed since then and we are having one final push for anyone wanting to buy a brick for themselves or a friend or in memory of someone. Call in at Filby Post Office or call Adrian on 01493 369250. A photo of the the Hall and the names of all who donated will be on display in the New Hall.
We would like to welcome everyone to come along to look around the new hall on the 18th July between 10am-4pm during open gardens weekend.

Jumble
Any items which can be sold, clothing, bric a brac, literally anything please contact Jenny for collection on 01493 369250. Once the new hall is running we are hoping to have regular sales to raise money for our new hall and village organisations.
Jumble Sale
Saturday 27th June 2pm Fleggburgh Village Hall raised £450 for International Animal Rescue. All the volunteers were grateful for donated items and donations of money. The next sale will be in September. Any items to sell can picked up, telephone Lesley 369536 or Sue 369291 for collection.
Marie Curie Blooming Great Tea Party
The first event at the New Hall raised £940 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Thanks to Pat Bell, Jenny Thompson and everyone who helped and supported the event.
Short Mat Bowls
Two mats have been purchased and we are hopeful this will become a regular feature in the New Hall. A meeting will be set up in due course and there will be a general invitation to anyone who may like to take part. Details will be published.
Broadlands Theatre Group
Presents The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe on Friday 31st July 7.30pm and Saturday 1st August 2pm and 7.30pm at Thrigby Hall. Tickets on sale from the Wildlife gardens from Saturday 25th July.
Coffee Morning
Thursday 9th July 10am-12 in the New Hall. Come along and enjoy real tea and coffee sponsored by the Tea Junction, Castle Mall, Norwich. Home made cakes, bring and buy and good company.
Bingo
Friday 10th July 7.30pm in the New Hall. Great prizes, free refreshments. Plenty of room in the Hall and car parking for new players.
